A Powhatan Day!
On Wednesday, August 22, Powhatan School faculty and staff welcomed students and parents to campus for the 2018-2019 school year! As in tradition, the morning began together as an entire school community with an All-School Gathering on Ibit’s Courtyard.
Enjoy this welcome back message video from Mrs. Scarborough, Head of School:
Each year the school selects a theme from one of the five pillars that support the school’s mission of “We learn not for school but for life.” This year’s area of concentration to support academic growth is Civility.
Summer upgrades across campus are almost complete. Parents of younger students were delighted to drop their kindergarten and first grade students in the newly renovated early learning classrooms. The ceramic studio located in the center of campus is fully functional and the new bleachers for the gymnasium will be completed shortly.
Established in 1948, Powhatan School is an independent PK-8 Day School accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools and a member of the National Association of Independent Schools. Powhatan School opened the 2018-19 school year today with an enrollment of 254 students, marking three straight years of enrollment growth. Powhatan serves families in Clarke County, Frederick County, Western Loudoun County, Warren County, Winchester City and the panhandle of West Virginia.
