Tune in this week as we rank the Top-10 of the most popular classroom videos from the school’s YouTube channel. Our countdown continues today as we unveil the #4 & #5 videos.
Here at Powhatan, we use an approach called NEAL (Nature Enhanced Approach to Learning). NEAL is a lens through which we can teach any or all components of our curriculum. We use it to bring our students outside into the natural world and to bring the natural world indoors to our students. An authentic experience like the Wetlands Field Day elevates the learning environment with a hands-on approach to applying their studies to the real world.
One of the newest classrooms on campus, the MakerSpace, was featured in 11 videos this past year. It is a place where students can tinker, explore ideas, design creations, take a risk and learn from mistakes. It was used by all ages across campus. It is a place where faculty and students alike can take a risk, nurture a passion, build and expand upon a unit or concept and freely open minds to new possibilities. Most important, it is a place for many opportunities to try a new course and ignite excitement for learning.
