5.  Chapel Talk

One of the long-standing traditions at Powhatan is the eighth grade Chapel Talk. Each eighth grader gets up in front of the school community and delivers an 8-10 minute presentation about a topic he or she is knowledgeable about. This capstone project showcases strategies Powhatan students have gained throughout their Powhatan careers such as research, writing, technology, communication, and collaboration. 4.  Wetlands Field Day

Our third graders study the importance of the wetlands on the Crocker Conservancy, a 47-acre wooded portion of our campus. This video explores the importance of experiential learning and the value of brining in experts from the real world to work with young learners. Follow along as students put on their muck boots and waded into the wetlands to discover which plants and insects were thriving in our calcareous muck fen. Learn more: CLICK HERE.

 

In the time period from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018, our YouTube page videos received approximately 118,197 views for a total of 154,969 minutes. These include new and previously created videos. During that same time period, we created a total of 49 videos ranging from experiences in pre-kindergarten to eighth grade. Stay tuned all week long as we release the Top-10 countdown of the most viewed videos from the past academic year!
