The MakerSpace provides opportunities for terrific cross-curricular projects.
Follow along in the video above as the fifth grade designs and engineers bridges in a collaborative project that blends art with science.
The project was inspired by a professional brainstorming session between Mrs. Garrity, Lower School art teacher, and Mrs. Greenhalgh, fifth grade teacher. “We seek opportunities to connect with fellow educators on campus and discover ways to enhance the learning experience through an innovative curriculum,” says Mrs. Greenhalgh. “Specifically, we wanted to challenge students to apply engineering concepts studied in science and integrate their understanding with principles of design examined in art class. This type of cross-curricular and hands-on project is beneficial for fostering 21st century skills, including problem solving, critical thinking, teamwork, adaptability, and creativity.”
