Second grade students concluded their social studies unit on geography this week with a special maker space project.

After learning about landforms and water formations, students worked in teams to build models representing the shapes and structures of those formations. Each team was assigned three different formations and had to work together to plan a design, choose materials, and bring their models to fruition. There was quite a bit of creativity and resourcefulness at play, and the students demonstrated their firm grasp of the geological and geographic features of our Earth.

The Makerspace is the perfect venue for nurturing the 5 C’s:

Critical Thinking
