The end of the year is always a busy time for the World Language Department. A recent cross-curricular field trip, in conjunction with the art department, to Washington DC provided great opportunities for students to use what they are learning in class in the real world. During the trip, Mr. Royston, the Upper School art teacher, led the group through the National Gallery of Art. They spend time visiting exhibitions of both French and Spanish Artists and explored the cultural connection with their teachers. After the tour, the Spanish class walked to La Tasca Restaurant to have a typical Spanish meal, while the French class visited Paul’s Restaurant for French cuisine. Field trips like these allow students to use the language in an authentic setting.
