The seventh grade French class recently went to Crepeworx in Winchester. “This trip was a culmination of our study of food and dining out,” commented Mr. Fleming, the French teacher. “It is very important to use the language in an authentic setting. Reviewing vocabulary or sentence structure in the classroom is one thing, but to engage in conversation in a real world setting is a crucial step along their path to mastery of the language.” The class performed skits about an imaginary trip to a French restaurant, learned about popular French dishes (including “crêpes”), and learned about cultural differences.
