Upper School Math Teacher
Alyssa lives in Martinsburg, WV, but was born & raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. She recently got engaged in September of 2017. She is a recent graduate of CNU (2015). Shortly after graduating, she moved from Newport News, VA to Middleburg, VA for a long-term substitute position at Foxcroft School. Alyssa has taught multiple sections of Pre-Calculus and Calculus, while also working as a House Mother to the Upper-classmen dormitory temporarily.
She worked as a consultant at NASA during part of her undergraduate career to pursue an interest in forecasting/ meteorology. As mentioned previously, she has experience with teaching at a private institution already, for she worked at Foxcroft School from January 2016 – June 2016. She attended the NCTM Conference on Mathematical Discourse in Baltimore this past summer and is working to incorporate new teaching techniques into her classroom this year.
Alyssa is very passionate about guinea pigs and has seven of her own. Furthermore, she enjoys taking care of and playing with them. She also enjoys hiking and exploring, reading, attending concerts, shopping, and watching reruns of Friends. She also enjoys working as a Certified Health Coach. More recently, she has enjoyed planning her wedding!
