Cassey has devoted nine years to teaching in Loudoun County Public schools where she primarily taught fourth and fifth grade, while spending four of those years as a team leader. She also spent one year in Winchester City Schools teaching third grade. During these years, Cassey supervised and mentored three high school seniors in the Teacher Cadet Program at Stone Bridge High School, piloted and provided support for team for implementation of Word Study, was a part of the 30-30-30 program with Ron Nash, and provided staff development on active engagement strategies and equity in support of school improvement initiatives.
