Powhatan School was established in 1948 by a dedicated group of parents of elementary-aged children who were committed to providing an enriching and rigorous atmosphere for learning. At that time, the school was located just down the road in a small, red schoolhouse in Millwood, Va. Seventy years later Powhatan is a vibrant and bustling hub for students and faculty alike.
I hope you will take some time to discover the many wonderful opportunities that exist here at Powhatan. I encourage you to spend some time here on our website to learn more about the school’s mission, pedagogical approach, and school culture.
This Admissions section serves as your resource for learning more about the inquiry and application process, and is designed to help guide you in your decision-making regarding Powhatan School and independent schools in general. Of course the best way for you to get a sense of the educational opportunities that we provide for families across the region is to visit with us. We can think of no better way for you to get to know us than by spending a morning to explore our dynamic campus.
