Preparing For Your Personal Campus Tour
Preparing for your Personal Campus Tour
A campus tour is the best way to experience a school up close. We trust that you will walk away with a strong understanding of the educational opportunities we provide for families across the region.
Due to COVID guidelines some of our procedures for campus tours (and visitors in general) have changed. We’ve gone through the list of the most commonly asked questions and highlighted suggestions to help assist you before your arrival to campus. We look forward to your visit!
Directions to Campus & Visitor Parking
Directions to Powhatan School can be found by clicking here. When you pull onto campus, look for the flagpole. Visitor parking is adjacent to the flagpole and sits directly in front of the Carter House (main administration building). Walk directly to the Carter House main door and use the buzzer to gain access.
Visit in the Fall
We highly recommend visiting in October or November. This allows plenty of time to have all of your questions covered well before the admissions assessment process starts in January.
Wear comfortable shoes
A typical campus tour can last an hour and a half, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Portions of our tour are outside in the elements, so be aware during the winter months and dress accordingly.
Children?
Roughly 95% of our school day campus tours tend to be parents only. At the end of the campus tour we also have an opportunity to sit down for 30 minutes to cover any and all questions as well as walk you through the entire admissions process.
Children will have an opportunity to visit the school through our on-campus assessment process in January and February.
Facilities Access
Due to COVID guidelines and protocols we are unable to get into some of the indoor spaces on campus. We will stay to the open general spaces during our tour. If there is a specific area you would like to try to see, please let us know ahead of your visit. We thank you in advance for your patience with us as we navigate these new restrictions.
List of Questions
Don’t forget to do your homework and come up with a list of questions that we can answer for you during or at the end of the tour!
COVID-19
We require all visitors to campus to wear a mask on campus. All visitors will complete a temperature check during the check-in procedure at the Carter House before the campus tour. If you are experiencing COVID symptoms or have been in contact recently with anyone whose tested positive for COVID or experiencing COVID symptoms please reschedule your tour for a later date.
