‘Bittersweet’ farewell for Powhatan grads

BOYCE– Powhatan School Headmaster John Lathrop expressed his certainty that the 25 eighth-graders graduating Friday would change the world.

“We expect great things from you … leaders, scholars, entertainers and servants dedicated to your community and your world,” he said.

The spectators at the 2011 Powhatan commencement ceremony fanned themselves in the 90-degree heat as Lathrop sang the praises of the graduating class at the private school…  (more)
