Global Maker Day has been a national phenomenon since 2016. It is a day dedicated to learning, sharing, and making. At Powhatan School, we turned one Maker Day into a whole week! Students at all grade levels took part in STEM focused challenges in the Makerspace each day this week. The Innovation & Technology team came up with multiple different challenges to test their creativity and collaboration skills!
The Pumpkin Challenge was a favorite of Lower School students. Each team had to design and build the tallest structure possible that could still hold a small pumpkin aloft. Meanwhile, Upper School students took on the Sports Dome Challenge – having to work together to build a covering for a pretend sports field using various materials that could then be formed only into triangles.
