The Piedmont Environmental Council and Powhatan School teamed up with Clarke County Public Schools to host the annual Conservation Day for all fourth graders in Clarke County on Friday, September 30th. More than 140 fourth graders from D.G. Cooley, Boyce Elementary, and Powhatan School attended the program themed “Habitats.”

Students spent the morning visiting various environmental stations from local environmental and wildlife organizations. At midday, representatives from the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center spoke to the entire group of students about habitats. They brought a number of animals to show students during the excellent keynote address.
