A fantastic group of twenty-four fourth and fifth grade students have been working throughout the year reading and discussing fifteen books, and practicing writing and answering book questions during our second year of Battle of the Books (BOB) at Powhatan!

“We are incredibly proud of all of the fourth and fifth grade students who were a part of Battle of the Books this year!” ~ Mrs. Zuckerman, fourth grade teacher

Powhatan sent four teams to a regional competition against Highland School, Wakefield School, and St. James School (Md.). Out of the 12 participating teams, Powhatan received 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishes. The students were well-prepared to compete, having met weekly all year to read, discuss and write quiz questions about the 15 pre-selected books. The students showed civility and respect throughout the competition and represented our school well!
