Welcome to the Powhatan Pulse Podcast!
There is no surprise that the podcast went dormant in 2019. So, now in 2022, we’ve relaunched the podcast. Each month we encourage you to join Dr. Caitlin Gosnell, Lower School Director, and Evan Robb, Upper School Director, for conversations around teaching and learning.
In this episode, we sit down with our co-hosts as they introduce themselves to our campus community.
Meet our Directors:
Before becoming the Lower School Director at Powhatan, Dr. Caitlin Gosnell worked as clinical faculty for Johns Hopkins University and as an affiliate faculty member for Loyola University. While teaching coursework to graduate students, she also served as an instructional coach and independent evaluator for numerous teachers throughout Baltimore City Public Schools, grades K – 12. Prior to working in higher education, Caitlin was the Dean of Students and Social Learning Specialist at The Auburn School in Baltimore, a K – 8 independent school that she helped to found as a teacher. Before teaching at Auburn, Caitlin was a Special Educator for The Forbush School at Hunt Valley, affiliated with Sheppard Pratt Health System.
Throughout her various roles, Caitlin developed and led professional development for teachers related to the learning environment, classroom climate, fostering shared-inquiry discussions, assessment techniques and data collection, social-emotional learning, as well as behavior management. She looks forward to supporting lower school teachers and students, as she builds relationships with families and gets to know the community at Powhatan. Caitlin lives with her husband, Brandon, their twin sons, and the family dog, in Boyce, VA.
Evan Robb ‘80 has over twenty-five years of experience serving as a building-level principal. Prior to being a school principal, he was an English teacher, department chair, and Assistant Principal. Evan is a recipient of the Horace Mann Educator of the Year Award. In addition, the NCTE Commission on Reading selected him to serve on its national board.
Evan has written five books for major publishing companies focused on leadership and literacy. In addition, Evan has given keynote speeches across the country and conducted workshops for educators nationally and internationally. Evan graduated from Powhatan in 1980 and is thrilled to join the team and be back at Powhatan!
