Bio: Penny grew up right outside of Pittsburgh, PA and remains a devoted Steelers fan win or lose. She moved to Virginia after graduating from college to teach in Culpeper. She started her career as a Special Education teache, focusing on English and history classes. Realizing that reading is the key to a quality education, she earned her Masters in Education with a focus in Reading Specialization at James Madison University. She has been honored to teach students from varying backgrounds at the middle and high school level. She has presented professional development sessions at local and state-wide conferences empowering classroom teachers with embedding authentic reading and writing experiences. She has served as an adjunct professor for Shenandoah University in both the Reading Specialist Program and in the Summer Invitational Institute for the Shenandoah Valley Writing Project.

Hobbies: Penny loves to read, write, cook, baking Pinterest Fails, hiking, traveling to new places, visiting family and friends, and watching the Steelers win
